An Irish observance(You've gotta love the Irish)!

An Irish observance...

An Irishman moves into a tiny village in County Kerry, walks into the pub and promptly orders three beers.
The bartender raises his eyebrows, but serves the man three beers, which he drinks quietly at a table, alone.
An hour later, the man has finished the three beers and orders three more.
This happens yet again. The next evening the man again orders and drinks three beers at a time, several times.
Soon the entire town is whispering about the "Man Who Orders Three Beers."
Finally, a week later, the bartender broaches the subject on behalf of the town... "I don't mean to pry, but folks around here are wondering why you always order three beers?"
"Tis odd, tisn't it?" the man replies, "You see, I have two brothers, and one went to America, and the other to Australia. We promised each other that we would always order an extra two beers whenever we drank as a way of keeping up the family bond."
The bartender and the whole town were pleased with this answer, and soon the "Man Who Orders Three Beers" became a local celebrity and source of pride to the village, even to the extent that out-of-towner's would come to watch him drink.

Then, one day, the man comes in and orders only two beers.
The bartender pours them with a heavy heart. This continues for the rest of the evening: he orders only two beers. The word flies around town. Prayers are offered for the soul of one of the brothers.
The next day, the bartender says to the man, "Folks around here, me first of all, want to offer condolences to you for the death of your brother. You know-the two beers and all...."
The man ponders this for a moment, then replies, "You'll be happy to hear that my two brothers are alive and well. It's just that I, myself, have decided to give up drinking for Lent."

I'm Back..... Did you miss me?

Well,
It has been a wild, crazy bunch of weeks. That is my lack of blogging excuse. I always feel I should post, but lack of time and a crazy schedule have made it nearly impossible.

Anyways, here is a little recap of what is up in our lives.

Ryan has started school in January and he is gone on Mon & Wed nights. Elijah and I like to plan little adventures out on these days and we have been having fun.

Tuesday nights was small groups, but fortunately that was postponed for a while, which will make our schedule a little less busy.

Elijah has started playing soccer and has practice on Thursday nights and games on Saturdays starting next week.

So really all we have now for family time is the weekends and Ryan usually winds up studying.

In the meanwhile, I have been busy getting items for Isaiah's room and planning out his room.
His room is going to be a really nice neutral yellow with navy blue stars sponged on the wall to match his bedding. It will be so cute, if only I could get my hubby started on the painting.

My dear friend Kim is having a baby shower for me on the 15th of March, so I finally finished registering at Target, you can check out my wishlist here:

I am excited for out little one to arrive. Not too much longer now.

We are also planning a vacation out to South Lake Tahoe in October for my aunt's wedding. We are totally stoked to have some fall weather again this year.

Well, that is what new in our lives, more coming later!

Flu and more...

Ryan caught the flu four days ago. Chills, aches, coughing, fever, you name it.

Luckily he has been out of work, so he was able to rest while his mom watch Elijah.

Unfortunately, we have tried to quarantine him to the living room and lysoling the heck out of everything possible in the house to prevent me from getting the virus.

Well, that didn't work. I mostly have chest congestion, fever, headache, sneezing and congestion, but I am starting to feel the ache in my bones.

Yuck. Just keep us in our prayers that it doesn't get worse and that our little guy, who is going back to school next week because Daddy finally signed a contract, does not get this virus. His best friends birthday party is tomorrow and he missed it last year due to being sick. He also has another birthday party Sun afternoon and I would hate to see him miserable like us.

Have a nice superbowl weekend. Lots of parties here in Tampa along with stars. Not that I care. But if you do, we are now back on the map here in Tampa.

Isaiah Ryan Mullins

That is the name we (well I, Ryan couldn't object) decided to name our little guy.

We went on the hospital tour this weekend with Elijah. Just to show him where mommy would be staying. He liked it but still has no clue what is going to happen!

Ryan is still out of work. Bummer. Hopefully by the end of the week they will have a contract finally signed.

I have am thinking about heading a MOPS group at our church. I have to get a team together first to help, so this could be a big project but I am excited about it.

We had a bit of a cold front last week. It is back to hot weather again and that just stinks!

I am so excited for LOST to be back! of course, I am even more lost than usual, but in suspense for this week's new episode.

That is all for now. More updates later!

Hope in the midst of crisis

This scripture really touched me today along with the women's study I attended this morning....

"The LORD will give strength to his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace."

This really hits home for me and many others we know that are stressing and trying to make ends meet these days with the effects of this economy. So many people we know have been layed off, might be layed off, or are still trying to make ends meet with one income. Everyone is looking for more money, more work, etc...

But, as this verse illustrates, The LORD is the only one to give strength to us. He will bless us and more importantly HE will give us peace. It is only our duty and need to trust that His Word is true and that in the midst of being broke and cutting off the cable and eating every meal in, we can know that the Lord is behind us and he will not forsake us. I hope everyone going through the troubled waters as we are can find strength in this scripture that blessed me today!

ICE! and more!

Happy New Year Everyone!

This post is of course belated and a catch up post, so what else is new?... We had a very nice two week staycation along with a small trip to Orlando to enjoy the condo there. We had a hard time feeling the "White Christmas" effect down here, when the weather on Christmas day was 81 degrees. However, we still really enjoyed our time with family and friends and we were really sad to take the ornaments off the tree today. All good things do usually come to an end I guess....

While in Orlando we visited an exhibit called ICE!, which is in the Gaylord Palms Resort and is an exhibit featuring billions of pounds of ice that are hand carved by Chinese Artists. It was really beautiful and unbelievably cold (9 degrees), so we only could stay in there about 25 minutes.

Well, above are some pictures to enjoy!
